Here at V&G Smog we perform the necessary smog test that the state of California requires to register your car. We are a test only station and cannot make repairs needed to help you car pass, but we can outline the repairs that will help you in this process. After all tests we will furnish you with a copy of your results which can be either used to register your car or be taken to a Certified Smog Technician who can then make necessary repairs. We have all the same testing equipment and perform the same test as all Test and Repair Centers in California. The big difference between both types of smog stations is that Test and Repair Centers can charge less for their test but in turn make it up in repairs. A repair can range upward of three hundred dollars depending on the make and model of the car being tested. In light of this the State of California created Test Only Stations in order to cut down on FRAUD that was occurring at Test and Repair Stations (as stated on the California Dept. of Consumer Affairs-Bureau of Automotive Repair Frequently Asked Question Fact sheet). We, as a Test Only station, can only profit off the test and not on any repairs needed. By coming to us you can avoid being charged for unnecessary repairs by getting an unbiased smog test. Rest assured we want your car to pass as much as you do, and will do all we can to help.
